Independence Public Media Foundation

8 Bridges Workshop supported the research, strategic planning, and launch of this new independent foundation that now serves the Greater Philadelphia region with a mission to build power with communities by investing in community-owned and community-led media making. IPMF was formed with the proceeds from the FCC’s spectrum auction, whereby WYBE Channel 35 successfully raised $131 million. The new foundation supports independent media, community expression, and the ecosystem of media makers in the Greater Philadelphia region.
